Subwoofers

The subwoofer is a PA Speaker designed to deliver and reproduce all the low frequencies for touring performances and fixed installations. Subwoofers for live or recorded playback to an audience or congregation operate between 20 Hz and 150 Hz depending on the transducer size and the cabinet design. Subwoofers rarely work in isolation, they are added to 6”, 8”, 12” or 15” 2-way or 3-way point source or line array PA systems to take care of the low frequencies thereby focusing the smaller speaker drivers on the frequencies with which they work best making PA systems sound tighter, cleaner and more effective. Subwoofers can be passive or active.
